Walloon Village Pop-Up Retailers

Approximately 50% complete, the Village Plan is worth a visit

Gibbs Planning Group completed a master plan for a private developer that recently acquired much of the historic Walloon Village.

The plan included a cluster of Pop-up artist-retailer sheds grouped around a small plaza and the relocation of historic lakefront homes slated to be razed for larger houses. The moved homes have been located along the Hwy. M-75 to form a main street of shops.

The Village Plan is approximately 50% complete and worth the visit. It is a good model for for other resort communities.

All buildings were painted white, with red roofs and designed to reflect Northern Michigan's historic character. The plan also included a lakefront green and new restaurant located in a former marina.
